DAVAO CITY — The city’s QR (DQR) code takes effect today. November 23, 3030 but not yet compulsory.

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio who was interviewed over dcDR on Monday said the DQR takes effect today but only for offices and establishments identified by the city, citing basic requirement which needed to be in place.

Duterte-Carpio said only select offices were allowed to implement DQR since there are requirements needed, like, 1) Android Smartphone which will be used to scan the DQR; 2) Stable internet signal; and, 3) the link.

The absence of the two basic requirements would render the DQR useless since it cannot connect to the system of the city.

The Mayor said the mechanics and the links will be announced anytime today.

“Again, ang mauna ang offices and establishments nga naa sa listahan ang nagagamit og android smartphone nga scanner ug dunay Internet connection, kanang tulo mag-uban na siya, ” Duterte Carpio emphasized. (Again, offices and establishments included in the city’s list using an Android Smartphone scanner and with a stable internet connection, the three must come together.)

The DQR, according to her, was designed by the city government for easy contact tracing among individuals in the fight against Coronavirus.

It can be recalled that the city called off the DQR application claiming the system was ‘overwhelmed’ due to an influx of applications, but, IT experts claimed the first link did not carry the SSL which can result to a breach of privacy.
