POLICE TO PRESS CHARGES VS. BIFF IN DATU PIANG RAMPAGE

DAVAO CITY — Criminal charges for Attempted Murder, Arson (damage to gov’t property), Indiscriminate firing, Damage to property, Grave Threats and intimidation, are being prepared against two leaders of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighter and several other BIFF personalities who figured in the 2-hour rampage in Datu Piang on Thursday night.

According to reports received by PNP Chief, Police General Debold M Sinas, from Police Brig-Gen Samuel Rodriguez, suspects SALAHUDIN HASAN aka Salah and MUHIDEN ANIMBANG INDONG aka Commander Karialan were identified as leaders of 50 men that harassed the Poblacion of Datu Piang at 9:25 in the evening of December 3, 2020, and set fire to a police car with indiscriminate firing nearby a church and a school building.

Except for the burned patrol car and minor damages, no casualties were reported in the incident, Rodriguez said.

Reinforcements composed of 70 personnel from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-14 under PLtCol. Jeff Uy, Force Commander, one (1) section of 4th Special Action Battalion, PNP- SAF under PLts. Ian Rey Diolanto and Brett Allen Alde with seventeen (17) personnel, and units from 34th Infantry Battalion, and 6th Infantry Battalion, of 6th Infantry Division, Philippine Army were stationed at Datu Piang to maintain peace and order and establish normalcy in the area,

Rodriguez told the Chief PNP that all other nearby municipal police stations were also alerted in case the BIFF will repeat the same attacks and harassment.
