ILIGAN CITY — Six wild boar hunters were abducted by alleged members of the Dawlah Islamiyah along the boundaries of the Madalum and Munay town both in the hinterlands of Lanao del Sur.

Two of them were killed, two survived and two are still missing.

Police Major Joly Sabtal, Madalum police chief said, killed were Francis Alcaba, 32 years old and Lito Angcap, 22, while Nito Bacayan, 22 and Leo Baloro, 24, are still missing. All of them are residents of Bacolod town in Lanao del Norte. Sabtal withheld the names of the survivors.

According to Sabtal, the incident was first reported to their office past 8 a.m. on Dec. 10.

Sabtal said two men came to the police station seeking help and saying they were hogtied, made to kneel down while an improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated near them by the armed men.

The two men, Sabtal said, claimed that there were four of them who managed to escape when the ropes they were tied with were loosened. But they parted ways with the other two who are now still missing.

Through a police gallery, the survivors identified five of those who abducted them who allegedly were members of the terrorist group, Dawlah Islamiyah.

“We are investigating the incident since it happened in our area. We went to the crime scene. The armed men were no longer there. We found only two cadavers. Their relatives claimed and buried them immediately,” Sabtal said. “Two of them are still missing,” Sabtal added. –Divina M. Suson/ NewsLine
