Abu Sayaff Terrorist killed in Tawi-tawi clash

ISABELA CITY, BASILAN— A ranking sub-leader of the Abu Sayyaf Group died in a clash with police troops in Languyan, Tawi-Tawi on Thursday, January 28, 2021.

PNP-SAF Director, Police Major General Bernabe M. Balba in a statement identified the fatality as a certain sub-leader Alkam Udjaman Hadjail, aka Alkam, 30, a native of Patikul, Sulu and currently residing at Sitio Kawa-Kawa, Brgy. Maraning, Languyan, Tawi-Tawi.

Hadjail is under the leadership of Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan.

Balba said Hadjail is accused of Kidnapping for Ransom and is the subject of a Warrant of Arrest issued by Judge Abdulmoin M Pakam, of RTC9, Branch 5 of Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.

Hadjail, armed with a cal.45 pistol,o ffered violent resistance to the arresting team serving the arrest order which triggered a brief shootout causing his death.

Police records disclosed Hadjail’s alleged role in the killing of five Philippine Marines personnel in the vicinity of Bud Dato, Sulu sometime in 2016, and the beheading of Cpl Macad in an encounter in Patikul, Sulu.

He was also allegedly involved in the kidnapping of Jushua Bani and Joseph Bani at Chinese Pier, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi on June 2, 2014 and in the killing of a church attendant of Jolo Catholic Parish Church.

He was also a former member of the Lucky 9/Ajang-Ajang/UTG gun-for-hire and Kidnap For Ransom Group. –Richard G. Falcatan
