3 cases of UK Strain detected in Davao Region

DAVAO CITY —The Department of Health Davao Region has confirmed the detection of three (3) three B.1.1.7 cases in the Davao Region, in a press statement on February 13, 2021.

In a Facebook post, the Province of Davao de Oro announced that the new UK Strain patients are from the town of New Bataan and Compostela. while the otehr one from Davao City.

The patients involve a 10 year-old male, 54 year-old female, ug 33 year-old male.

The DOH in a statement stressed “The Department of Health Davao region, DOH Central Office’s Epidemiology Bureau together with the DOH Davao Center for Health Development called for an emergency meeting with the concerned Local Government Units for a coordinated response.Ongoing intensive investigation and contact tracing up to third generation or F3 close contacts is being done. “

It added “All identified close contacts will undergo RT PCR testing. Specimens that tested positive will be reviewed and selected samples that passed the laboratory criteria will undergo the whole genome sequencing at the University of the Philippines – Philippine Genome Center (UP-PGC) . The identified close contact will also undergo strict quarantine. Further updates will be provided once data from the ongoing investigation will be available.”
