IT COULD have been a promising day as the country was just starting to celebrate Valentine’s, but not for the 27-year-old policeman who met his untimely death in a vehicular accident at dawn of February in Labangan town, Zamboanga del Sur.

Police report identified the fatality as Patrolman Sanny Tajan Dacal, a resident of Tambulig town and assigned in Tambulig Municipal Police Station.

Police Major Olympus We Bas, Labangan Municipal Police Station chief, told Newsline that Dacal was driving his motorcycle under heavy rain when he lost control due to slippery road and skidded.

Bas added that Dacal was just passing by Labangan, most likely on his way to Pagadian City.

The already unconscious victim was brought to the Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center in Pagadian, but was declared “dead on arrival” by the attending physician, Dr. Kieng Caritativo.

Dacal was also found positive of COVID-19 in a Rapid Antigen Test, and was immediately buried in accordance with the Department of Health protocols. (Zorayda Eva Mustaril)
