DAVAO CITY — Only the Supreme Court has the jurisdiction to investigate corruption complaints against members of the judiciary.
Department of Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra recently clarified to reporters that no other chamber of body can investigate the members of the court such as Judges, Court employees and court employees.
Guevara issued the clarification after the Task Force against Corruption (TFAC) received corruption complaints against members of the judiciary.
Guevarra in an interview with reporters said “We’re aware of the Judicial Integrity Board, which has exclusive jurisdiction,” being an independent body.
As of this publication, the Task Force received five complaints against low-ranking court personnel.
“I suppose people generally know where to complain if the persons involved are judges or justices,” he added.
He emphasized that complaints received by the Task Force are either sent to the National Bureau of Investigation, the Ombudsman or reviewed by lawyers to determine the merit of the complaint.
