63 students receive cash aid

TAGUM CITY — A total of 63 students will receive P3, 780 each as additional wage through the Special Program of the Employment of Students (SPES) of the municipal government of Sto. Tomas town in Davao del Norte.

Mayor Ernesto Evangelista and Municipal Administrator Atty. Elisa Evangelista-Lapiña has scheduled the distribution of the remaining wage intended for the 63 Tomasinos beneficiaries under the SPES.

Each SPES beneficiary will receive P 3,780.32 as the 40 percent counterpart from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) based on the applicable minimum wage in the province of Davao del Norte.

In Santo Tomas, a total of 63 youth were given the opportunity to gain skills and workplace experience while enrolled in the SPES program.

According to Evangelista, SPES program under his administration was strengthened to serve as a “bridging mechanism” that would provide the youth an opportunity to earn income to pursue their education.
