PIKIT, NORTH COTABATO — Camp Rajamuda, the home of the then Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) is now in solitude but during heavy downpour residents need to brace through waist-high floodwaters, and worse, it has yet to avail a stable power supply.
Camp Rajamuda is the seat of power for the Eastern Mindanao Front of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
Out of the 46 verified MILF camps, GPH recognized only six, such as Camp Abubakar As-Siddique in Matanog, Maguindanao, Camp Bilal in Lanao del Norte, Camp Bushra in Butig, Lanao del Sur, Camp Rajah Muda in Pikit, North Cotabato, Camp Omar in Firiz Hill, Maguindanao,
MILF Commander Jack Abas was seated in a plastic chair with two of his aides around when the Newsline team enter his lounge, he was a picture of a retiring professor awaiting students to consult.
Abas now sits as a member of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) said they feel the development under BARMM though many of his men have yet to process their decommissioning to join the Philippine Army since the first phase is still not completed.
While awaiting the process of full integration, life inside the camp is at peace, with young children going to Arabic school daily but the biggest challenge is wading through waist-deep floodwaters eve.
Abas said the lives of their schoolchildren are always at risk as the government has yet to establish a dike or waterways,
The camp is getting a power supply from a generator.
Abasa said they already sent a letter and informed the government about the problem but to no avail.
