DavOr Guv sees politics possible angle over Vblogger’s death

DAVAO CITY –— The killing of anti-corruption crusader Donnie Lumikid Jr. in the town of Manay, Davao Oriental could have been triggered by either personal has so many angles and one of which is politics, said Davao Oriental Governor Nelson Dayanghirang.

Dayanghirang said “there are many angles to consider, Lumikid’s death can be “Politically motivated or he is used a a sacrificial lamb” he stressed.

Lumikid, an anti-corruption crusader and a video blogger was killed along the national highway in Barangay Central, Manay Davao Oriental on Friday, April 1, 2022.

He sustained two gunshot wounds on his head.

The Governor remembered a instance when the victim held a solo-demonstration inside the legislative building to raise his concern over the reportedly anomalies by some members of the municipal council.

Some of his comments, Dayanghirang assumed, could have hurt certain politicians and individuals.

Two nephews of the Governor are running for public office in the town of Manay, namely JM Dayanghirang who is for Mayor while Mae Dayanghirang is gunning for a council seat.

He admitted his nephews and other members of the municipal council were hurt by the accusations of Lumikid in his social media blogs but his nephews resort to filing of libel case before the court “For the court to evaluate and decide on the merit.”

On the possibility that Lumikid was used as sacrificial lamb, the Governor said “Based on our surveys my newphew is doing well, so it can be his won group or maybee some people whom he hurt.”

Dayanghirang said despite the incident, the political climate and peace and order of his province remains stable.

However, Lumikid’s family and his followers are seeking justice over his death.-Editha Z. Caduaya
