TF-Davao arrests drug courier on Holy Friday

DAVAO CITY –— Task Force Davao in cooperation Davao City Police Office have arrested a suspected drug courier who tried to bring illegal drugs in the city during the observance of Good Friday, at around 8:30 in the evening at the AFP-PNP Checkpoint in Lasang, Bunawan.

TF Davao Spokesperson Capt. John Louie Dema-ala identified the suspect as Ronnie NiƱo L. Uy, 40 years old, married, a resident of Blk 12 Lot 9 Purok 3-B RTU Village Apokon, Tagum City, Davao Del Norte who was en route to Davao City.

Uy, according to Dema-ala “appeared restless when he was flagged down at the checkpoint and his gesture became suspicious which prompted our personnel to call the nearby police officer to further inspect the belongings of Uy which led to the discovery of two sachets of suspected shabu weighing around 1.47 grams with an estimated street value of twenty three thousand five hundred twenty pesos (P23,520.00), and drug paraphernalia.

Uy’s apprehension came after the arrest of a PUV passenger who also tried to sneak in a sachet of suspected shabu to Davao City early Friday.

This is the second Checkpoint apprehension for Good Friday and third by far since the start of the Holy Week, according to Dema-ala. TF-Davao personnel immediately turned over to Bunawan Police Station for proper disposition.-EZC
