Government agencies dialogue with IP communities

CABADBARAN CITY, Agusan del Norte— Different agencies of government which are peace stakeholders held a dialogue with the different indigenous communities in Caraga Region last week.

The dialogue was aimed listening and interacting with the IP leaders and elders concerns and challenges and how can government intervene in a given situation.

Issues such as ancestral domain claim and equitable government services were raised as a among the stumbling block in the process to attain and sustain a peaceful community.

The concern for sustainable livelihood as a way of attaining peace was also discussed.

The inter-agency visitation cum dialogue with the various Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICCs) and Indigenous People (IPs) from the municipalities of Remedios Trinidad Romuldez, Cabadbaran City, and Tubay, all of Agusan del Norte, on July 22, 2022, held at Covered Court, Brgy Puting Bato, Cabadbarad City.

The activity was spearheaded by the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) Caraga together with the Indigenous People Mandatory Representative of Agusan del Norte, Datu Dakula Randy Catarman, Vice Mayor of Cabadbaran City, Hon. Rey G Jamboy, 29th Infantry “Matatag” Battalion, 65IB, and various line agencies in Agusan del Norte.

Colonel Jason M. Saldua, commanding Officer of the Philippine Army’s 29th Infantry Battalion thanks the leaders for continously , expressed his gratitude: “I am truly grateful for the presence of everyone in this peace dialogue.” It is always good to see various agencies of the government collaborate to come up with a solution to address the various issues and concerns of the people. “Our mandate is to bridge the gaps and resolve issues by providing the right services needed by the people, especially in those geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAS).”

“With your active support, we can maintain and achieve an inclusive peace in your communities.” “Rest assured that the 29IB will always be here to help you and do its best to secure and protect the people,” he added.
