MANILA, Philippines — Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chairman Juan Andres Bautista is officially out of the Commission on Elections.
He left his office Monday afternoon, October 23, 2017.
Bautista’s resignation took effect when Malacañang accepted his resignation which stated “effective immediately.”
The Comelec chair tendered his resignation October 11, 2017 which could have been effective on December 31, 2017 but on same day when the members of the House of Representatives voted 137-75-2 to impeach him.
Executive Secretary Salvador Mildealdea in a letter also stated that President Rodrigo Duterte accepted Bautista’s resignation.
Bautista’s estranged wife Patricia earlier accused him of amassing millions of pesos from sources she did not know.-Editha Z. Caduaya/Newsline.ph
