Customs officials meet FIBA orld cup 2023 committee

DAVAO CITY — Officials from Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) met the International Basketball Federation Basketball World Cup 2023 (FBWC 2023) Local Organizing Committee (LOC) on January 17 to discuss plans and opportunities that the FIBA World Cup 2023 Championship can give in terms of investment, tourism, and sports development.

The FIBA is composed of national organizations that govern the sport of basketball worldwide.

Deputy Events Director Erika Dy, International Relations and Protocol / Government Relations officials Pauline Ick, Mon Eusebio, Rebecca Ribo, and Ed Kenneth Garcia, FIBA Congress officials Ruth Coloma, Julius Fonte, and Grace Plata, and FA Safety and Security BGen Agane Adriatico (ret.) and Engr Joseph Remollena represented the FBWC LOC.

District Collector Carmelita Talusan and various port officials and personnel represented the BOC NAIA in the meeting held in Pasay City.

During the meeting, FBWC LOC members raised their concerns on Customs processes for arriving participants of the event for clarification.

“As we have experienced in past occasions, we have high confidence that the BOC- Port of NAIA will provide valuable support to the success of FBWC 2023,” the IR/Protocol and Government Relations Team said.

In her speech, Talusan expressed her commitment to supporting the FBWC LOC and that the Port of NAIA would provide efficient assistance to all the arriving participants of the FIBA World Cup 2023 Championship.

The BOC Port of NAIA, under the guidance of Customs Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz, remains committed to providing excellent services to its stakeholders in line with the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
