Police investigators from the Marawi City Police Office suspect that a former Ganassi town councilor is the main suspect in a drive-by shooting on March 15 and using an ambulance as a getaway vehicle.

BARMM PNP regional director Police BGen John Gano Guyguyon said that hot pursuit operations are underway to arrest Ansary Marohombsar, a former municipal councilor of Ganassi, Lanao del Sur, and alleged team leader of Ganassi Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).

Marawi City acting chief police LtCol. Gieson Baniaga said that Marohombsar allegedly shot an unknown vendor in Sarimanok, Barangay Marawi Poblacion.

“The victim sustained one gunshot wound on his right arm and was rushed to the Amai Pakpak Medical Center for immediate treatment, and is now in stable condition,” Baniaga said.

“The retrieval of the getaway vehicle was made possible by the collaboration of the community and the local government unit of Ganassi. operatives are now conducting a pursuit operation to find the alleged perpetrator,” Guyguyon said.

Guyguyon added that a personal grudge or love triangle is the possible motive behind the incident.

Baniaga added that appropriate criminal charges are being prepared against the suspect. Meanwhile, the getaway ambulance is now in the custody of Marawi City police.

Guyguyon also asked the general public to continue being vigilant in reporting any illegal activities seen in their communities and the potential whereabouts of the suspect, thus upholding peace and order in the region.
