CDO police nab ex-convict for drug trafficking, seize P3-M worth of shabu

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY- Drug Enforcement Unit of this city arrested an ex-convict in a drug buy-bust operation on April 11, 2023 along 9th Street, Barangay Nazareth, here.

Personnel of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office conducted the operation that resulted in the arrest of Michael Jay Bryan Pacardo, a 33-year-old, a high-value individual, and a resident of Zone 8, Zayas, Barangay Carmen, also in this city.

Confiscated from Pacardo were nine heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu weighing more or less 450 grams with an estimated street value of P3,060,000.00, and three P1,000.00 bill used as buy-bust money.

CDEU Chief Police Major Aldrin Baculio said that they monitored the movement of Pacardo and conducted a police surveillance operation that lasted for almost two months.

Baculio added that Pacardo was released from Davao Penal Colony in April 2022, after serving his sentence for violation of Dangerous Drugs Act (R.A. 9165).

“We conducted continuous monitoring after he was released as he has continued activities involving illegal drugs,” Baculio said.

Baculio said that Pacardo told them that his source of drugs came from Lanao provinces, “After this, we will conduct a follow-up operations to get to his source,” Baculio said.

The suspect is now under the custody of the CDEU, Cagayan de Oro City Police Office for proper disposition.

Police BGen. Lawrence Coop, Regional Director, Police Regional Office 10, lauded the operating units for the successful drug buy-bust operation.

“Our diligent efforts to eliminate illegal drugs in the region are slowly being realized. The success achieved by our personnel is a true demonstration of our full efforts and dedication to the campaign against illegal drugs. Along with the other agencies and community, PRO10 will continue to arrest illegal drug peddlers to achieve a drug-free Northern Mindanao,” Coop said.
