7 hurt in Sultan Kudarat bomb blast

DAVAO CITY –— Seven (7) passengers were wounded when a suspected improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded at the middle of Husky Tours bus while it was parked at Isulan, Sultan Kudarat public transport terminal at around 12noon today, April 17.

Police Colonel Lino Capellan, deputy provincial director of Sultan Kudarat police office said the double decker bus just arrived from Cotabato City en route to General Santos City.

Capellan identified the wounded passengers as:

1. John Ruskin Dela Cruz y Atentar, 15 years old a resident of Brgy. Calumpang General Santos City;
2. Jeffrey Dela Cruz y Atentar, 14 years old and a resident of Brgy. Calumpang General Santos City;
3. Javiren Batican y Atentar, 13 years old and a resident of Alabel Sarangani Province;
4. Edgar Perez Cochoco, 56 years old and a resident of Malabang, Lanao del Sur;
5. Ramsiya Ibad Alilayah, 60 years old and a resident of Brgy. Apopong, General Santos City;
6. Nur Fatima Deocampong Maca-antao, 25 years old and a resident of Marawi City; and
7. Analia Bagundang, 57 years old and a resident of PC Hill, Cotabato City.

The victims are now confined at the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Hospital in the same town.

Capellan added that the National Police are conducting an investigation.

“We are conducting checkpoints along the boundaries of Sultan Kudarat province,” Capellan told local radio reporters on the ground.

“We urge the public not panic as the situation is under control and the National Police are conducting an investigation,” Capellan told reporters.
