LAMITAN CITY, Basilan — In two-days time. Two persons were killed while three others were wounded in three separate shoting incidents here.
The count started last Saturday, April 29, at around 5:30 in the afternoon, when a still unidentified gunman shot a 58-year-old woman and a 30-year-old tricycle driver in Barangay Parangbasak.
Colonel Arlan Delumpines, chief of Lamitan City PNP identified the victims as Abdan Baharuddin Mukadjibin, married, jobless, and a resident of Tinambakan,Brgy Maganda while the passenger was identified as Paira Amanda Sangbayan, a resident of Bohe Tambis,Tuburan Municipality, Basilan.
Police record showed that the Mukadjibin and Paira were about to leave the place after visiting their relatives in Sitio Makuhun, in Barangay Parangbasak when the incident happened.
Paira was hit on her hand while Mukadjibin sustained a gunshot wound at the left side of his abdomen. They are now recuperating at Lamitan City Hospital.
Two hours later, a tricycle driver was killed while her businesswoman passenger was wounded in a shoting incident along the main road,Brgy Malinis at around 7:05 in the evening.
Delumpines identified the fatality as Ariel Quillopaz, tricycle driver while the wounded passenger was identified as Rosalina Francisco Lacno, 48-years-old and a resident of same village.
Police Staff Sergeant Mohammad Macala chief investigator of Lamitan City Police Office, said Quillopaz was already lifeless when they arrived at the crime scene.
Lacson was sent to a local hospital but was later transfered to a hospital in Zamboanga City.
Investigation report showed that Lacno was heading home from her store but when disembarked infront of her residence, two motorcycle-riding gunmen suddenly appeared and snatched the sling bag of Lacno, but they failed to get it, a reason the businesswoman was shot.
While Quillopaz was shot on his chest when he attempted to escape from the crime scene.
On Sunday, at around 3:00 in the afternoon, a certain Abubakar Jahal Haruddain, 52 years-old and a resident of Barangay Parangbasak, was killed on his way to Isabela City with hi two minors sons.
Delumpines said investigation showed that Jahal was driving his motorbike along barangay Sengal going to Isabela when two motorcycle-riding gunmen suddenly surfaced and shot the victim but spared his sons.
Jahal was brought to the hospital but the physician declared him dead upon arrival.
In an interview, Delumpines revealed that Abdan Baharuddin Mukadjibin was a suspect in a shoting incident which thappened a month ago.
While the police considered the case involving Lacno as a foiled robbery hold-up.
All these cases, according to Delumpines are isolated but the police have been consucted mobile checkpoints in Lamitan City.
