DENR officials visit mining sites of Davao Oriental

DAVAO CITY — Officials from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources conducted a site visit and inspection at Hallmark Mining Corportation and Austral-Asia Link Mining Corporation in sitio Magum, Barangay Macambol in Mati City Davao Oriental on May 2, 2023.

The facebook page of DENR Davao stated that the activity was led by Assistant Secretary for Field Operations-Eastern Mindanao Ruth M. Tawantawan, together with DENR-11 Regional Executive Director Bagani Fidel A. Evasco, MGB-11 Regional Director Atty. Jasper Alberto H. Lascano, and EMB-11 Engr. Mario N. Bulacan, along with other officials.

It says that the activity aims to check the company’s environmental management and strict compliance with government policies on responsible mining.

The HMC and AALMC are companies under the management of Asiaticus Management Corporation (AMCOR) and currently hold control of the Pujada Nickel Project.

The team paid a courtesy visit to Davao Oriental Governor Corazon N. Malanyaon at the Provincial Capitol and discussed the updates on the agengy’s ongoing projects and programs in the province.

Malanyaon has earlier made clear her stand that all agencies and stakeholders must follow the law especially when it comes to activities relative to natural resources.-EZC
