DAVAO CITY —- The property owners at the landing site of the P23-billion Samal Island-Davao City Connector (SIDC) Bridge Project has filed a case in court in the hope that a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) will be issued to stop the project.

In February this year, the owners filed a case vs the Philippine Government to stop the construction in the hope of securing a TRO.

The Rodriguez family, et. al. have filed a TRO at the Supreme Court against the construction of bridge but the court, according to the DPWH has yet to act on the petition..

Based on the plan, the landing of the project will be at barangay Caliclic and Limao in the Island Graden City of Samal, where the petitioners properties are situated.

Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) regional director Bagani Evasco in today’s regular session at the Davao City Council said a petition has been filed but the court has yet to act on their petition.

On March 24, during the Regional Development Council meeting in Mati City, Davao Oriental, SIDC project manager Joweto Tulaylay said the project has been affected by the failure of the government to acquire lots to be used as landing site.

The construction of the project is funded from a loan which the government secured from China.

The families of Rodriguez and Lucas family own Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort and Costa Marina Beach Resort respectively.
