TAGUM CITY – In an effort to enhance the livelihood opportunities of local fishermen, the local government of Tagum City in Davao del Norte has provided 28 fishermen with a robust motorized fiberglass boat through their Fishery Support Program.

Mayor Rey Uy, the driving force behind this initiative, specifically opted for fiberglass boats due to their durability and longevity, ensuring that the beneficiaries can rely on them for an extended period of time to sustain their livelihoods.

Additionally, two fisherfolk associations were presented with plastic drum covers, which aid in their fishing endeavors. These covers are commonly used to attract fish in the sea, facilitating an easier catch for the fishermen.

The local government has set an ambitious target of providing 200 fiberglass boats to fishermen, along with additional fishing equipment, as part of their ongoing commitment to support the local fishing community.

By equipping fishermen with the necessary tools, they aim to bolster the fiserfolks’ productivity and overall well-being.

This support from the local government underscores their dedication to improving the overall situation of fishermen in Tagum City, encompassing not only enhancing their livelihoods but also ensuring food security within the community.

With such initiatives in place, the fishermen of Tagum City are optimistic for a brighter future through increased opportunities and a secure food supply, with the support from their local government.
