TAWI TAWI – During a maritime patrol near Pahayag Island, the operating unit of Naval Forces Western Mindanao spotted a motor vessel, prompting them to conduct a search and seizure procedure to ensure the vessel’s sea-worthiness.

During the inspection, it was discovered that the motor vessel was carrying 6,000 bags of rice without proper documentation. Each bag weighed 25 kilograms.

The crew, along with the motor vessel and the confiscated items, were immediately escorted to the Chinese Pier in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi for further proceedings.

Through a joint inspection and inventory conducted by personnel from Naval Forces Western Mindanao, Tog-Sultaw, and BoC Bongao, it was estimated that the total market value of the seized rice amounted to P12,760,000.

The confiscated bags of rice and the crew of the motor vessel were then turned over to the custody of BoC Bongao for proper disposition.
