DAVAO CITY – In an effort to address the mental health needs of the psychosocial unit members of the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking In-Persons, Child Pornography, and Violence Against Women and their Children, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office XI organized a mental health wellness and stress debriefing session. The event took place at Malagos Garden Resort from June 29 to July 1, 2023.

The initiative was spearheaded by DSWD XI Regional Director Atty. Vanessa B. Goc-ong, who recognized the challenges faced by the psychosocial unit members as they deal with traumatic events. The two-day Stress Debriefing activity aimed to provide a platform for team members to process their experiences, foster resilience, and build connections.

During the session, participants engaged in various activities focused on mental health wellness and stress management. Facilitators provided guidance and support to help the psychosocial unit members cope with the emotional toll of their work. The debriefing sessions offered a safe space for open discussions, allowing the participants to share their thoughts, feelings, and concerns.

Director Goc-ong emphasized the importance of prioritizing the mental well-being of the psychosocial unit members, stating, “The work of our psychosocial unit members is vital in ensuring the welfare and protection of survivors. It is crucial that we provide them with the necessary support and resources to effectively carry out their duties.”

The DSWD XI Field Office remains committed to promoting the overall well-being of its staff and partners. By addressing the mental health needs of the psychosocial unit members, the department aims to enhance their resilience and strengthen their capacity to provide assistance to survivors of trafficking and violence.

The successful conduct of the mental health wellness and stress debriefing session serves as a testament to the DSWD’s dedication in caring for its workforce and promoting a holistic approach to social welfare.
