Missing Cotabato doctor found dead, killer confessed

DAVAO CITY— The body of the  missing  doctor of   Cotabato Regional Medical Center was found buried in a shallow  pit on Thursday morning, the graveyard was covered with banana leaves inside the hospital compoud where she worked, her killer confessed the crime.

Nasrudin Endaila, a worker of Cotabato Doctors Association and a part time staff of the victim, in a press confererence confessed before the members of the media that he killed Tello while she was resting at the conference after a heated altercation last Sunday .

 Dr. Marivic F. Tello,  obstetrician-gynecologist  of CRMC was reported missing since Sunday. Police authorities found  exhumed the body  today.

Retired Police General Agustin Tello, husband of the Dr. Marivic Tello, confirmed her identity after personnel from Scene of the Crime Operatives discovered the cadaver buried at the back of the Cotabato Medical Society building near gate 3 of the well-fenced CRMC.

Dr. Tello’s killer, surrendered to the police few minutes after the body was discovered .

Colonel Querubin Manalang Jr., city police director, told DXMS Gen. Tello, a former police officer, requested them to focus their investigation within the CRMC’s compound.

Manalang said the CCTV footage showed, Dr. Tello was last seen on Sunday morning entering her quarter at CRMC near gate 3 building.

No record shows that she left the compound, hinting police to investigate within the area where she was last seen. The authorities noticed a suspicious pit covered with banana leaves at the building’s back portion. The doctor’s dead body was placed inside a body bag.

According to the self-confessed killer, the victim reportedly accused him of mishandling the funds remitted to him representing the monthly dues of the physicians who are members of the medical organization Tello was the treasurer of Cotabato Medical Society.

He denied pocketing the fund telling reporters that the collections were directly deposited to the organization’s bank account.

The suspect voluntarily turned himself in after witnesses talked about seeing him at the spot where he buried Tello, holding a spade. He was also seen struggling to pull a large plastic bag, apparently containing Tello’s cadaver, from a building in the CRMC compound to the spot where he buried the victim in a shallow grave.

The city government of Cotabato has earlier offered P300,00 reward for any information which could led to the identity of the suspect.

Bangsamoro Police regional director Brig. Allan Nobleza said they will file charges against Endaila.

Tello is spouse of now retired Police Gen. Agustin Tello, a former provincial director of the then undivided Maguindanao province that got split into Maguindanao del Sur and Maguindanao del Norte via a plebiscite last year.
