DAVAO CITY — Residents of Tambucho Drive, Camino Nueve, Zamboanga City try to salvage recycle materials after the fire gutted their village.

The fire of a still unknown origin hit the village on August 20.

The city government of Zamboanga listed 139 affected families, many houses were razed to the ground while the assessment is still going on.

As of this morning, 58 families (39 house owners, 7 sharers and 12 boarders) were evacuated to the Camino Nuevo covered court while 81 families (22 house owners, 29 boarders and 30 renters) sought refuge at the Canelar covered court.

The Bureau of Fire Protection-ZC Fire District places the cost of damage at P1 million, in its initial report submitted to Mayor John Dalipe.

The number of houses damaged is still being processed.

Mayor Dalipe has instructed the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) to mobilize City Government resources to provide the necessary assistance to alleviate the plight of the affected families.
