ZAMBOANGA CITY – In an effort to enhance agricultural production and income for farmers in Zamboanga City, Mayor John Dalipe recently turned over seven new 4-wheel farm tractors to six agricultural districts within the city.

The initiative, based on Ordinance 2010-156, aims to provide efficient and cost-effective machinery to improve agricultural output in the region. The City Agriculturist Office will oversee the management and operation of these newly acquired equipment.

Mayor Dalipe emphasized his commitment to supporting the agricultural sector, which he considers the backbone of the community and essential for ensuring food security.

The farm tractors, with a total value of approximately 19.7 million pesos, were sourced from Japan. Among them, five units are equipped with 70 HP engines, each valued at around 2.99 million pesos, while the remaining two units feature 50 HP engines, priced at approximately 2.39 million pesos.

The turnover ceremony took place during the flag-raising ceremony at City Hall on the morning of September 11. The farm tractors were distributed to the agriculturist offices in the districts of Tumaga, Ayala, Culianan, Manicahan, Curuan, and Vitali.

This move represents a significant step towards improving the agricultural sector in Zamboanga City, providing local farmers with the tools they need to increase production and contribute to the city’s food security.
