Smuggling continues to thrive in Zamboanga peninsula

DAVAO CITY — Smuggling of different goods continue to thrive in Zamboanga Peninsula despite tight watch by various government agencies.

The smuggling activities includes shipment of cigarettes and petroleum products from other countries.

Zamboanga is just a boat away from Indonesia and Malaysia.

On September 9, the Bureau of Customs intercepted in Barangay Cawit, Zamboanga City o 89,600 liters of petroleum products.

Based on the inventory report, the seized petroleum product reached 89,600 liters with a total value of P5.8 million. The sea vessel used in its sneaking is worth P3 million pesos.
