Adolescent health awareness initiative to address teen pregnancy in Cotabato

KIDAPAWAN CITY – As the mother of the province of Cotabato, Governor Emmylou “Lala” J. Taliño-Mendoza actively promotes programs that safeguard the future of the youth by providing appropriate information about the risks associated with decisions related to teenage pregnancy and more.

In connection with this advocacy, the provincial government, through the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), conducted the “Adolescent Health Awareness” activity on Friday. The event took place at Nicaan High School in the town of Libungan and was attended by approximately 150 senior high school students along with their teachers. This initiative was organized in collaboration with the Department of Education and the local government of Libungan.

The discussion covered several vital topics, including the Adolescent Program Orientation, Oral Health, Teenage Pregnancy and its risks, as well as updates on HIV and STI/HIV issues.

Resource speakers for the informative session included Adolescent Program Provincial Coordinator Najie Gatchalian, Provincial Oral Health Coordinator Dr. Divinagracia Alimbuyao, Adolescent Program Municipal Coordinator Aljane Dioquiño, and IPHO Medical Technologist Rowena Villaoscarez.
