5.9 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Davao de Oro

DAVAO CITY — A 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck near New Bataan in Davao de Oro at 5:02 am, local time.

The temblor was felt across several areas, with varying intensities reported:

Davao de Oro registered Intensity IV.
Nabunturan reported Intensity IV.
New Bataan experienced Intensity V.
Pantukan felt Intensity V to VI.
Compostela recorded Intensity III to IV.
Davao Oriental saw Intensity V.
Mati City reported Intensity V.
Lupon had Intensity IV.
Caraga and Tarragona registered Intensity IV.
San Isidro experienced Intensity V.
Davao City reported Intensity II.
Davao del Norte felt Intensity IV.

Instrumental intensities were also observed, with Intensity IV recorded in Nabunturan, Davao de Oro, and Intensity III in Pikit, Cotabato, Malungon, Sarangani, and Columbio, Sultan Kudarat.

Currently, there have been no reported damages. An aftershock has been felt once, and authorities are conducting ongoing assessments of potential damages. Power interruption was reported in Pantukan, and province-wide class suspension was declared, with an executive order to be released.

In Davao Oriental, power interruptions were reported in Caraga, Lupon, San Isidro, Tarragona, and Mati City.

Davao del Norte is actively monitoring the situation for any damages.
