Fire razes over 200 homes in Agdao, Davao City

DAVAO CITY – Responders from the fire department and volunteer firefighters swiftly acted to control a massive blaze in Barangay Kapitan Tomas Monteverde, Agdao District, Davao City around 7 amand declared under control by 9 am on Tuesday, November 14.

According to reports, approximately 235 houses were razed by the fire.

The Bureau of Fire Protection estimated the damages at P1.6 million.

Based on the investigation conducted by the BFP, the fire originated from the ceiling of a residence owned by William Barona.

The BFP is considering electrical-related causes, especially given the presence of electrical lines on the ceiling of Barona’s house. However, further investigation is underway to pinpoint the exact source of the fire.

Those affected by the incident sought temporary shelter in the barangay gym.

Local authorities promptly arranged for the victims to receive meals. Evacuation center personnel, including staff from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office, City Health Office, and other frontline agencies, were deployed to address the immediate needs of the affected residents.

The victims’ initial requirements are being attended to by the barangay and CSWDO.

CSWDO has conducted an assessment and validation of the situation.
