Samal Island again wins SGLG award

DAVAO CITY — The Island Garden City of Samal once again won the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) this year.

Under the leadership of City Mayor Al David T. Uy, the garden city met the all-in standards of the SGLG, conferred by the Department of the Interior and Local Government on December 14, 2023, at The Manila Hotel.

The SGLG is an institutionalized award, incentive, and recognition-based program mandated under Republic Act 11292, or the Seal of Good Local Governance Act, that encourages LGUs to commit to continuously progressing and improving their performance in various governance areas: financial administration; disaster preparedness; social protection and sensitivity; health compliance and responsiveness; sustainable education; business friendliness and competitiveness; safety, peace, and order; environmental management; tourism, heritage development, culture, and the arts; and youth development.

DILG Sec. Benjamin Abalos Jr. commended the local government units for their remarkable commitment to the good governance that they have provide.

Mayor Uy led his team in receiving the award.
