PRO XI declares zero tolerance for indiscriminate firing

DAVAO CITY — The Police Regional Office XI will not tolerate anyone found indiscriminately firing their gun during the New Year celebration.

PNP Regional Director Brig. Gen. Alden Delvo said “We will not hesitate to implement the full force of the law to anyone violating the order.”

Delvo said the PNP did not seal the firearms of the PNP personnel “To show that every member of the organizarion is reponsible gun owner.”

Those who violate the law will not be forgiven and will face punishment, Delvo stressed.

However, for those who want to use firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices the advised “PNP “Keep the celebrations safe and enjoyable.”

The PNP in a statement emphasized “The Police Regional Office 11 reminds everyone to adhere to guidelines on fireworks. Let’s ring in the New Year responsibly by adhering to designated areas for community fireworks displays.”

On Friday, Philippine National Police Chief, PGen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. visited Barangay Turo, Bocaue Bulacan, to inspect fireworks stores and dealers to ensure that they comply the requirement of the law governing firecracker sales, emphasizing the paramount importance of preventing injuries or fatalities during the impending festivities.

“Our focus is on safety,” Acorda added.

Davao City has long impleneted the fireacracker and pyrotechnic ban during Christmas and New year celebrations.
