Soldiers enjoy fireworks display during New Year revelry for the first time

DAVAO CITY — Welcoming the New Year 2024 with fireworks display was the first to happen inside the confines of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, as soldiers, their dependents and friends were on festive mode inside the 4ID Grounds, Camp Evangelista, Patag, Cagayan de Oro City.

Prior to the colorful fireworks display, the soldiers and their guests gathered together for the Holy Mass. Afterwhich, they were entertained by the talented soldiers/singers in a mini-concert. Everyone glittered while waiting for the New Year.

Division Commander Major General Jose Maria R Cuerpo II led the events and the New Year countdown along with other 4ID key officers.

The activity was not just a manifestation that soldiers are bonded by one motto ” “Serving the People, Securing the Land” , but it also displayed the human side of the army personnel.

The crowd was in festive mode and everyone was happy, as they celebrated the new year with fireworks dispplay, for the first time inside the camp.

In his message, Brig.Gen Cuerpo emphasized, that the event was their way of of expressing its gratitude for all the accomplishments of the past year and appreciation to its personnel acknowledging their exemplary dedication, sacrifices, and commitment to their respective duties and responsibilities that propelled the success of 2023, as well as the civilians for their continuous and unwavering support of 4ID’s peace campaign.

Cuerpo stressed that the celebration served as a meaningful occasion for reflection, allowing everyone to recollect and ponder upon the accomplishments and challenges of the previous year in order to set goals for the coming year.

“Tonight presents a valuable opportunity to reflect and review our achievements throughout the year. It serves as a pivotal moment to assess what we have done in 2023 and where we are so that we can set our target for 2024. Moreover, it offers us a chance to scrutinize the challenges encountered by our units and express gratitude for all the blessings bestowed upon us in the past year,” the 4ID Commander said.
