Army vows support to protect journalists

DAVAO CITY — The leadership of the Philippine Army on Monday committed to support all endeavors in protecting journalists and their safety.

Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. General Roy Galido who met Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) executive director Paul Gutierez and his team in a courtesy visit, acknowledged the critical role of the journalists in the country saying their safety is also the concern of his organization.

Gutierez and his team visited Galido at the Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio on March 4, 2024.

He enlightened Galido on the role of the PTFoMS and its mission is to create a safe media environment for all Filipino journalists and in bringing to justice those behind the violent attacks against the members of the press.

Galido assured Gutierrez that the Army is a partner in protecting and securing journalists especially those in the communities.

Also present during the meeting include Atty. Hue Jyro Go, PTFoMS Chief of Staff, Venet Andal, HEA; Col. Joel Malig, G7 PA, and, Col. Louie Dima-ala, Chief, PAO, Phil. Army.
