DAVAO CITY — The Islamist militant Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters or BIFF Karialan Faction claimed responsibility for the Sunday morning ambush which killed four soldiers in barangay Tuayan 1, Datu Hoffer Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur.

A certain Abu Supyan, who claimed  to be the spokesperson of the BIFF Karialan Faction in an interview with Radyo Bida, a radio station based in Cotabato City, during the interview said they retaliated following the series of military attacks against them.

A report published by NDBC News quoted Supyan saying “We have no regrets for what we did.”

The Sunday morning attack killed four soldiers who were on their way to the headquarters after delivering office supplies and food for the Muslim residents after their evening prayer in time for the Ramadan.

Supyan said the raids killed  Commander Kagi Karialan, who he said was an elderly civilian.

Supyan also admitted the BIFF was behind the attacks on an army Infantry Battalion in Dapiawan, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, and an army detachment in Pagatin, Datu Salibo.

“We respect the Moro Islamic Liberation Front or MILF and the peace process but the army always harasses us,” he said.

The sporadic attacks against them in Maguindanao del Sur, according to Supyan prompted them to react.

In the same interview, Supyan revealed that they found an ally during the Sunday attack as they found that the BIFF Bungos Faction was in the area before the ambush and they joined forces.

The BIFF also warned the civilians to stay away from the military camps saying their attacks against the military will continue.

Despite claiming the attacks, Supyan said the they are not bad people.
