Pope appoints Bishop Caermare as Apostolic Admin of Iligan Diocese

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Pope Francis has appointed Dipolog Bishop Severo Caermare as Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Iligan.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) announced the appointment of Msgr. Caermare, a day after the death of Bishop Elenito Galido who served teh Diocese for 11years.

Caermare, 48, will serve as overseer of the diocese pending the appointment of a new bishop.

The prelate was ordained as priest in 1996 with Master’s degree in Theology and Pastoral Ministry, in 2014 he was appointed bishop of Dipolog.

Bishop Galido, died at a hospital in Iligan City, years after battling cirrhosis of the liver.-EZC/Newsline.ph
