COTABATO CITY—Muslims in the Philippines will celebrate Eid’l Fitr, or the “Feast of Breaking the Fast,” on April 10, marking the end of Ramadan 2024.

This declaration was made by the Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta’ (BDI) on April 9, following the sighting of the moon, as confirmed by simultaneous lunar observations nationwide.

Eid’l Fitr, one of the grandest holidays in Islam, signifies the culmination of the month-long fasting of Muslims worldwide during Ramadan, alongside Eid’l Adha.

“By the authority vested in me as a Bangsamoro Mufti, I, Abdulrauf Guialani, hereby announce that the crescent moon was sighted today. Therefore, the Eid’l Fitr or the first day of Shawwal will be tomorrow, Wednesday, April 10, 2024, In Shaa Allah,” stated the Grand Mufti at the BDI Office in Cotabato City.

The Office of the Chief Minister (OCM) also released Memorandum Circular No. 045 s. 2024 on April 8, outlining specific guidelines for the Eid’l Fitr congregational prayer at the Bangsamoro Government Center (BGC) grounds on Wednesday. (Johamin Inok/BIO)
