PDEA nets P6.8M illegal drugs in Marawi City

DAVAO CITY –Anti-narcotics agents seized P6.8 million worth of suspected shabu from two illegal drug smugglers in Barangay Saduc in Marawi City last week.


According to Gil Cesario Castro, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, the suspects Abdul Diongaan, 47, and 49-year-old Panarigan Radia, were quickly arrested in an entrapment operation, and they did not resist when the operation is performed.

A PDEA personnel pretended to buy drugs worth P6.8 million and when he handed over what he bought, the suspects were immediately arrested.

PDEA has already prepared charges for violation of the Comprehensive. Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Drug officials in Davao Region has identified Marawi City and Other areas of Lanao del Sur as the sources on illegal drugs entering the region, as the record of the border checkpoint also showed.

Barangay Saduc is a residential area in Marawi City that belongs to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

According to Castro, the successful operation happened because of the help of Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong Jr., and Brig. Gen. Prexy Tanggawohn, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.
