TAGUM CITY —– Suspended Davao del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib temporarily vacated his chair at the provincial capitol on Sunday night in compliance to the 60-day preventive suspension handed down by the Office of the President over a vehicle that has been returned to a board member,
The governor left his office on the 17th day of his stay inside his office and a day after he celebrated his 50th Birthday.
“My dear brothers and sisters in Davao del Norte. Today is Sunday, April 28, 2024. I am leaving the office as a demonstration of my compliance with the Preventive Suspension Order that was brought down by the office of our dear president against me,” he said during his media briefing at the Capitol.
Getting out from his office, “Symbolizes my love for my brothers and sisters who stood and joined and stayed by my side for truth and justice and to give a chance to an orderly and legal process.”
Clad in a green polo shirt and clasping the hand of his daughter Clarice, Jubahib peacefully vacated his office and proceeded to the Tahanan ng Gobernador within the provincial capitol compound.
As he moved out of the capitol building, he was ushered by close to three hundred members of the indigenous peoples from all over Davao del Norte, the municipal and City Mayors, and his supporters led him his way to Tahanan, the official house of the Governor located within the capitol compound.
The Governor said he could no longer endure seeing employees under the governor’s office staying in a congested Bulwagan Building after Acting Governor De Carlo “Oyo” Uy ordered everyone to transfer their offices.
Jubahib vowed to continuously serve the people of Davao del Norte as he looked forward to his comeback and officially served the people who put him in his position.
The Governor said many things happened during the last two weeks, plantilla employees were either asked to take a leave or reassigned to other offices.
“I will come out of my office but please do not touch the employees who are honestly serving the people,” he requested.
He thanked his supporters and leader for untiringly staying beside him at his lowest moment. “Thank you for staying up all night to make sure that no one harms us.”
“The things happening to me are just temporary, it’s part of the trials, This problem is small and God is greater than this.,” he added
He vowed, “When I come back, we will come back stronger to stand against the challenges of our time.”
To ensure transparency and accountability, Jubahib requested the Provincial General Services Office to conduct an inventory of all vehicles, office equipment, and supplies and turn over the keys.
 Jubahib’s camp have requested the Court of Appeals to issue a temporary restraining order as he claimed his suspension was issued without following the due process of the law saying he was not allowed to answer to the complaint filed against him. Â
