Basilan Mayor broker peace after May 4 ambush

DAVAO CITY — Political leaders from the municipalities of Akbar and Tuburan in Basilan province met at the military headquarters to settle the score on the May 4 ambush try which wounded six individuals including a councilor.

Akbar town Mayor Alih A. Sali, Tuburan former mayor Durie Kallahal, Akbar ABC President Nuruddin M. Nasirin, municipal administrator Paisal Sali, Caddayan Barangay Chairman Janna Halilulla, Upper Bato-Bato Barangay Chairman Imraki S. Sali and Lt. Colonel Mark Serapion Lagud Jr. of the military’s 18th Infantry Battalion on Monday broke bread and discussed the resolution in the recent ambush in Sitio Bohe Putat, Caddayan, in Akbar.

The leaders agreed to establish a military outpost in Sitio Lessem, the spot where the ambush took place.

Mayor Sali during the meeting emphasized attaining peace and resolving the issues which caused the May incident.

The leaders agreed to put up an outpost and move forward in promoting a safe and harmonious environment for residents and visitors alike.
