DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), through its Migrant Workers Office in Osaka, Japan (MWO-Osaka), reports that no Filipinos were injured in the earthquake that rocked the Noto Peninsula earlier this morning.

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) reported that the earthquake, recorded at a magnitude of 4.8, occurred at 6:40 am Japan local time (5:40 am in Manila). The quake’s epicenter was off the Noto Peninsula, located in the northern part of Ishikawa Prefecture on Honshu, Japan’s main island.

MWO-Osaka is working closely with Filipino communities and Japanese authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the region.

MWO-Osaka will continue to monitor the situation and keep the DMW Head Office updated on any developments.

Meanwhile, the department also reported that no Filipinos were hurt during the collapse of a building in central Jeddah last Friday, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).

The DMW’s Migrant Workers’ Office in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, reported to Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac that they have already visited the site and several nearby hospitals to check for any Filipinos taken there for treatment.

Media reports in Saudi Arabia said at least eight people have been rescued from the collapsed structure.

The accident damaged 13 apartments across five floors in the Al-Faisaliah district in central Jeddah.
