DAVAO CITY Philippines – Eleven members of the Daulah Islamiyah-Turaifie Group (DITG) surrendered on June 21, 2024, to the 6th Infantry Battalion (6IB) in Barangay Buayan, Datu Piang, Maguindanao del Sur.

The former terrorists turned over seven high-powered (HP) and four low-powered (LP) weapons, including a Bushmaster rifle, three 40mm M79 grenade launchers, a Cal. 30 Sniper rifle, one 60mm Mortar, one 7.62mm Sniper rifle, two 9mm Uzi, one Cal. 45 pistol, and a Cal. 38 revolver.

Maguindanao del Sur’s local administration will enroll the surrendered individuals in the AGILA-HAVEN Program, offering them a chance at a fresh start, employment opportunities, and comprehensive support as part of the Tulong ng Gobyernong Nagmamalasakit (TUGON) Program of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Government.

Major General Alex S. Rillera, Commander of the 6ID and Joint Task Force Central, commended their decision to return to the government fold.

“We appreciate our fellow Filipinos’ return. They are among many former local terrorist group members seeking peace and progress in their region,” said Maj. Gen. Rillera.

The JTFC/6ID Commander appealed to remaining members of the terrorist group to choose a secure and dignified life with their families, renounce armed conflict, and return to mainstream society.
