DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Philippine Postal Corporation (The Post Office), in collaboration with Museo Orlina, is inviting students, designers, and illustrators to participate in a nationwide stamp design contest celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).
The UPU, a specialized agency of the United Nations, was established on October 9, 1874, under the Treaty of Bern. It unites the postal networks of 192 member countries, facilitating international communication and cooperation.
Contest Details
Eligibility:
The competition is open to high school and college students, artists, designers, illustrators, and other interested individuals.
Theme:
Participants must interpret the theme “150 Years of Enabling Communication and Empowering People Across Nations” in their designs.
Prizes:
The winning design will be featured on official stamps issued and launched by PHLPost for national and international circulation on October 9, 2024. Four winners will each receive a prize of PHP 50,000.00 plus a souvenir frame.
Submission Guidelines
Deadline:
Submissions are ongoing and will be accepted until July 15, 2024.
Requirements:
- Canvas: All entries must be on canvas.
- Print Version: A printed version of the artwork must also be submitted.
- Limit: Each artist is limited to one painting.
- Format: Artworks can be in portrait or landscape format, with dimensions of 10 x 14 inches or 14 x 10 inches. (The actual stamp size will be 35 x 50 mm or 50 x 35 mm in portrait or landscape format).
- Color: There are no color restrictions; artists may use any colors they choose.
- Text: The artwork should not include the theme text, denomination of the stamp, year of issue, or the word “PILIPINAS.”
Additional Documents:
A brief narrative interpretation of the artwork must accompany each entry, placed in a brown envelope along with the printed version. This should be printed on letter-size bond paper (8″ x 11″) and include the artist’s full name, school address/affiliation, email address, and contact numbers.
