DAVAO CITY— The highly anticipated P7.37 billion Panguil Bay Bridge will be officially inaugurated on September 27 by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., according to Governor Henry S. Oaminal.
The Panguil Bay Bridge, a pivotal infrastructure project, will link Mindanao’s northern and southern regions, connecting Tubod and Tangub City across Panguil Bay. This development marks a significant milestone for regional connectivity and economic growth, thanks to the efforts of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and its construction partners.
Economic Impact
The bridge is expected to profoundly impact the local economies of Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Norte. By improving access between key economic hubs, the bridge will facilitate smoother and faster transportation of goods and people. This enhanced connectivity is anticipated to stimulate economic activities, attract investments, and bolster local industries, particularly in agriculture and trade.
Construction Milestones
Governor Oaminal highlighted that key stakeholders, including Lanao del Norte Governor Angging Dimaporo, the DPWH, and the project contractor, have been actively preparing for the grand opening.
Challenges and Solutions
The project encountered challenges such as weather-related delays and supply chain issues. However, the team addressed these obstacles by implementing 24/7 work schedules and exploring alternative shipping methods for materials, ensuring the project stayed on track.
Community Response
Local communities in Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Norte are eagerly anticipating the bridge’s benefits. Residents are enthusiastic about the improved access and reduced travel times, which are expected to enhance daily life and economic opportunities.
Governor Oaminal revealed that the President will be honored as the guest of honor for the inauguration. Additionally, the governor outlined upcoming events, including the formal declaration of Misamis Occidental as an insurgency-free province, further highlighting the region’s positive transformation.
The inauguration of the Panguil Bay Bridge represents a major step forward in improving infrastructure and boosting economic growth in Mindanao.
