DAVAO CITY — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed an off-carriageway improvement project to enhance road safety along Daang Maharlika in Barangay Banlag, Monkayo, Davao de Oro.
DPWH Regional Office 11 Director Juby B. Cordon reported that the Davao de Oro 2nd District Engineering Office installed solar-powered street lights on double-arm steel posts in the center island of a 6.03-kilometer stretch of the highway.
The project also included additional safety measures, such as warning and regulatory signs, hazard markers, delineators, tubular markers, pavement stud markers, and reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings.
“The improved visibility from the new street lights reduces accident risks and enhances overall road efficiency, benefiting users during nighttime and adverse weather conditions,” said Director Cordon.
The project was completed in May 2024 at a cost of P77.20 million.
