DAVAO CITY — A tragic incident unfolded in Purok 7, Barangay Poblacion, Sulop, Davao Del Sur on Wednesday morning, September 18, 2024.
Police investigation reports revealed that Mary Joy Hepega Suarez, a 29-year-old resident of Purok 1, Barangay McKinley, Sulop, was fatally shot after dropping off her son at Sulop National High School at 6:00 a.m.
Upon her return home on her motorcycle, two unidentified armed assailants followed her.
Upon reaching her residence, Suarez was shot and fatally wounded in the left ear by one of the men using a .45 caliber pistol, as indicated by ballistic evidence recovered at the crime scene.
The perpetrators fled in an unknown direction, prompting an immediate pursuit operation by the police. The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, given that the victim was known as a businessman who worked as a banana buyer and checker.
Authorities continue their efforts to ascertain the reasons behind this tragic event and bring the perpetrators to justice.
