DAVAO CITY — Jose Manuel “JM” Lagdameo, a 42-year-old businessman and scion of the influential Floirendo family, emerges as a formidable contender for the Second District Representative seat in Davao del Norte.

Running unopposed, Lagdameo’s bid for Congress seems to have garnered strong support from the administration camp.

Accompanied by his brother, Secretary Anton Lagdameo, serving as the Special Assistant to the President, JM Lagdameo filed his Certificate of Candidacy with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) on Monday,  in a move that signals the family’s entry into the political arena.

Observers have pointed out that Lagdameo’s candidacy has been met with little resistance, raising speculation about a calculated decision within the administration to back his campaign.

Lagdameo, known for his extensive community engagement and support initiatives, has been actively involved in various sectors before his official declaration to run for public office.

With the current Second District Congressman, Allan Dujali, facing stiff competition from Governor Edwin Jubahib in his bid for reelection, Lagdameo’s unopposed run under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, with Governor Jubahib as the party’s standard-bearer, sets the stage for a potentially transformative political landscape in Davao del Norte.
