Marcos Jr. leads Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction

DAVAO CITY –President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.  on Tuesday presided over the official opening of the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR) at the prestigious Philippine International Convention Center. The conference aims to address crucial issues related to disaster risk reduction across the Asia-Pacific region.

Notable dignitaries and representatives from various countries gathered at the event to discuss strategies, share insights, and enhance collaboration in mitigating the impact of disasters. President Marcos Jr. emphasized the importance of proactive measures in building resilience and preparedness to safeguard communities from natural calamities and other emergencies.

In a symbolic gesture of partnership, Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Hae Kyong Yu presented President Marcos Jr. with the Australian Message Stick, signifying the official turnover of the hosting of APMCDRR from Australia to the Philippines. This exchange highlighted the international cooperation and solidarity essential in addressing disaster risks on a regional scale.

The conference serves as a platform for policymakers, experts, and stakeholders to exchange best practices, innovative approaches, and lessons learned in disaster risk reduction. Through collective efforts and shared knowledge, participants aim to strengthen the region’s capacity to respond effectively to disasters and protect vulnerable populations.

As the APMCDRR kicks off under President Marcos Jr.’s leadership, the commitment to building a more resilient and disaster-ready Asia-Pacific region remains at the forefront of discussions and actions taken during this important gathering.
