DAVAO CITY — The newly completed Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) with an integrated bridge was officially turned over to the communities of New Visayas and Tulalian in Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte.
This infrastructure project, implemented by the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte through the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) of the Department of Agriculture (DA), marks a significant step in improving local agricultural logistics and rural accessibility.
The turnover ceremony was graced by DA Region XI Regional Executive Director Macario D. Gonzaga, PSO Mindanao Project Director, and PSO Mindanao Deputy Project Director Carlene Collado, CPA.
The provincial government extended its gratitude to DA Secretary Francisco Laurel, the European Union for its Co-Financing Grant through the Second Additional Financing (AF2-EU), and President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for their support in realizing this vital project.
The new 7.78-kilometer farm-to-market road will significantly benefit the residents of Sto. Tomas, particularly the farmers. With the improved road and bridge, farmers can now transport their produce to markets faster and at a lower cost, helping to increase their income and reduce transportation expenses.
This project represents a commitment to supporting local agriculture, stimulating economic growth, and enhancing the quality of life for rural communities by ensuring that infrastructure reaches those who need it most.
