Town holds communicators training to fight disinformation

TAGUM CITY —- Some 45 individuals joined the communicators training in Kapalong town Davao del Norte in an effort to fight disinformation as the country prepares for the 2025 midterm elections.

“It is important that we know what is the right information because I am a victim of misinformation myself, during elections, your opponent throws garbage on you, as long as you are clean you can face them,” said Vice Mayor Edgardo Timbol in his welcome speech revealed.

The information highway and the digitalization has become a tool for disinformation, he emphasized “With this situation, there is a need to know what must be done, what information to give and we must stay away from propaganda.”

Almost all of the participants, who came from the different villages of Kapalong, signified their interest to equipped themselves with the skills and tools to fight disinformation in their communities.

The participants also revealed they too are victims of disinformation and struggles to stand for the correct information.
